Bittante – Caterina Luana
Our beloved mother, nonna and bisnonna Caterina (Luana) Bittante passed away on January 6,
2025 at the age of 88. Luana was born in Pove del Grappa, Vicenza, Italy on November 4, 1936.
She followed her husband Giovanni to Canada in 1958. They were married soon after and built a
life together in Vancouver where they enjoyed many happy years together. Left to mourn are
children Annamaria (Nino) and Diego (Janice), grandchildren Melissa (Mark), Amanda (Joshua),
Anthony, Hannah and Luca and great granddaughters Delilah, Kyla and Jessa. As well as her
sister Luciana and many extended family members in Italy. Nonna Lu will be remembered for
her friendliness, courage, faith and creativity. She was always ready and willing to lend a hand.
As an accomplished seamstress, Nonna Lu could make anything. She was very devoted to her
Catholic faith and to the Virgin Mary. She always had a rosary close by. May she rest in peace
and may the memories of her love and guidance be a source of comfort and inspiration in the
days ahead. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Chenchenstway Care Home for
their kindness and loving care for the past 7 months. A funeral mass will be celebrated on
Saturday January 18 at 11:00 am at St. Francis of Assisi Church,
2025 Napier Street, Vancouver, B.C. A private entombment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a
donation to her long-time parish of St. Francis of Assisi will be greatly appreciated.

Tribute :Here’s a more polished and heartfelt version of your message:Nona, I didn’t know you would leave so soon… My heart is broken because the last time I saw you was just before Christmas. As soon as I walked through your door, your face lit up, and you exclaimed, “MICHELLEEEE!” We hugged each other so tightly, and you immediately called Anna to let her know I was there. I was so happy to see you that day, Nona—I didn’t know it would be the last time.I remember after our hug, you told me to visit Nono because he wasn’t doing well. I promised you I would, and then I went upstairs to see him. I didn’t realize that moment would be my final memory of you both.I’ll always cherish the day we first met at Chenchent’s Way, on my very first day as a support worker. You and Nono were so warm and welcoming, and we talked as if we’d known each other forever. I remember sharing with you my favorite YouTuber, Nona Pia, and her recipes—we even watched her videos together. From that day on, you always looked for me, shared your thoughts with me, and treated me with such kindness. You made me feel like I was part of your family, like one of your granddaughters. Every time you said “I love you” to me, it touched my heart in ways I can’t explain—especially because I never had the chance to experience that with my own grandparents. You filled that space in my heart with your love, sweetness, and warmth.Over time, I grew to love you even more. I became so protective of you, always visiting before going home, and comforting you on days when you worried about Nono. I remember holding you close as you cried, assuring you that I was there for you, always.Nona, I will never forget you or Nono. The pain of losing you both is so heavy, but I will carry the love and memories we shared forever. When I left Chenchentsway temporarily to continue my studies, I made you a promise that I would come back for both of you—a promise that came from the deepest part of my heart.Rest easy, Nona and Nono. I will always keep you in my prayers. I love you both so much and will miss you always.
