George Victor Dotto
October 3, 1931 – January 27, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of George Victor Dotto on January 27, 2025, at the age of 93. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family.
George was born on October 3, 1931, in Vancouver, BC, to Sylvio and Rose Dotto. A proud graduate of the University of British Columbia, he earned his degree in electrical engineering and went on to have a long and fulfilling career at BC Hydro. His work as an engineer was surpassed only by his dedication to his family and friends.
On May 26th, 1956, George married the love of his life, Malvine. Their 68-year marriage was a testament to enduring love and partnership, leaving a lasting legacy of devotion for their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Together, they raised a family that will continue to cherish their memory.
George is survived by his beloved wife Malvine, and their six children: George (Kerry), Michael (Lolita), Stephen (Leanne), Mary, David (Debi), and Mark (Ryoko). He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren: Heather, Joey, Michelle, Jonathan, Stephanie, Carley, James, Graham, Brice, Taylor, Noah and Benjamin, and his three great grandchildren: Beau, Holly, and Leo. George is also fondly remembered by his loving sister, Norma, and predeceased by his sister, Sylvia.
After retiring, George enjoyed a fulfilling and adventurous life, traveling the world and creating lasting memories with those he loved. His warmth, wisdom, and charisma will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
George’s life was one marked by love, laughter, and a deep commitment to those closest to him. May he rest in the eternal peace of heaven, reunited with loved ones who have gone before him.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 5th at Our Lady of Assumption Church: 3141 Shaugnessy St., Port Coquitlam.

Tribute :I first met George Sr. ( Mr. Dotto) in 1973 upon moving to Coquitlam in 1973 and becoming friends with George (Jr.)In those high school years, Many afternoons and evenings were spent downstairs in the Regan ave family home (provided I could successfully get past Ollie the occasionally inspired guard collie) I would come to understand later what it meant to be a parent whose home was the go-to meeting and hang out place. A very late thank you is due to you Mr. and Mrs Dotto, for your generosity, patience and understanding in that regard. To that end, you will always be Mr. and Mrs. Dotto to me. Not simply because you were parents of a dear friend, but more so because you were, and are individuals of character, worthy of respect and emulation.I think we are defined by the friendships and partnerships that we choose and sustain throughout life. From my perspective and distance it seems you chose well, and navigated through life as a wonderful team, a true couple, an intimate collaboration of explorations, of curiosities satisfied through travel and new discoveries, always active, always together. I cannot think of one of you without thinking of the other. While our times together were infrequent, when we were together, I will always remember George Sr.’s ready smile and sincere interest in learning what was going on in ours and our children’s lives. To the entire Dotto family and most sincerely to you Mrs. Dotto, our hearts and thoughts are with you. Kris
