In Loving Memory of Fernando Homem da Silva June 9, 1936 – March 1, 2025.  Surrounded by his family and friends Fernando passed away suddenly in Burnaby General Hospital at the age of 88.  Fernando was born in São Miguel, Açores, Portugal. He was the last surviving sibling of twelve. He is predeceased by his loving parents Maria Helena and Manuel Homem Silva and sisters Helena, Fatima, Fernanda, Eduarda, Lourdes and Germana, his brothers José, Miguel, Manuel, Dinis and Antonio as well as his niece Helena Moniz Lima and his nephew Michael Rego, who lived with him for many years and was considered like a son.  He never married but had an abundance of love from his parents, siblings and many nieces and nephews.  Prior to coming to Canada as a young man in Portugal he worked with his father in their convenience store in their village of Santo Antonio. He immigrated to Vancouver in 1960 and worked throughout BC in work camps most of his life starting off as a bull cook and then serving as Camp Manager for the majority of his years. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Prayers and the Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 21st at 10am at Our Lady of Fatima Parish (1423 E. 13th Ave, Vancouver BC). The entombment will follow at Ocean View Cemetery (4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby BC).
