Leo Yelle, beloved husband of Doris, was gathered into the arms of the Lord on May 24, 2019 at the age of 85. He had an indomitable spirit and strong faith right to the very end. He had been battling lung disease over the last several years combined with other health issues. He was born at home in a farmhouse near Kamsack, Saskatchewan on May 19, 1934. The family relocated to a farmhouse near Melville at the age of 8. He graduated from St. Henrys Catholic School in Melville in 1952. At the ripe old age of 19 when the world is your oyster, he became critically ill with polio. During his recovery, as destiny would have it, a nurse attending to him became the love of his life. Doris and Leo were married in Melville on June 27, 1957. They relocated to Kitimat where he worked for Alcan and had their first two precious children Laurette and Blaine. They eventually moved to Vancouver where he self-built his dream home and added their final child Kevin. He enjoyed his work at CAE Machinery for 14, years, eventually becoming the industrial engineer manager. His next job was at Sandwell Engineering where he worked for 16 years as an engineer technologist. He always said if you enjoy your work you will never work a day in your life. He was happiest out in nature which is why he loved taking the family on camping and fishing trips. He enjoyed travelling abroad with his family and later with his wife. His hobbies included carving, woodworking, playing the guitar, motorcycling and he was the ultimate handyman around the house. His catholic faith was an essential part of his life and he joined the Knights Of Columbus becoming a 4th Degree Member. He was blessed with two granddaughters which he cherished. He was predeceased by father Rosario, mother Amabellis, brothers Maurice and Hector, sisters Therese, Yvette and Jeanette. He is survived by wife Doris, daughter Laurette (Yoshi), son Blaine, son Kevin (Nelia), beloved grandchildren Briana and Halie, sister Cecile, brother George (Ann) and many cousins, nieces, nephews and other family members. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Knights Of Columbus BC/Yukon would be appreciated. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00am Wednesday June 05, 2019 at Good Shepherd Church 2250 -150th Street, Surrey, B.C. Fr. Glenn Dion Celebrant. Interment at Gardens of Gethsemani at later date.
