It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved
dad, Quirin (Quinn) Joseph Walz, on May 8, 2023, at age 96.
Quirin lived a full and remarkable life devoted to his family,
friends, and community. Born December 6, 1926, on the family
farm in Marysburg, Saskatchewan, later moving to Humboldt
Saskatchewan. He was one of twelve children (6 brothers and 5 sisters),
born to William and Cecilia Walz. Quirin was proud of his prairie roots
and took great satisfaction sharing stories of his youth. In the late 1940’s,
in search of work, Quirin made his way out West to Port Albernie. In the
late 1950’s he relocated to Coquitlam where he met and eventually
married, his loving wife, Kay in 1960. They spent the next 60 years
living on Burke Mountain raising their family, making lifelong friends
and memories. They were married for 61 years until Kay’s passing in
May 2022. Quirin was a kind and generous man, always willing to
lend a helping hand to those in need. He will be deeply missed by family
and friends. Quirin is survived by his children, John, Judy (Ken) Mary-Anne
(Jan), and Michael, grandchildren Chad (Bee), Jeffrey (Jen), Scott (Breanne),
Brooke, Anni, and Bronwyn, great grandchildren, Brody, Cameron, Finley,
and brothers Ed and Ken. Prayers will be held Tuesday, May 23 @ 8pm and
a funeral Mass on Wednesday, May 24 @ 11:00 am at Our Lady of Assumption
Catholic Church in Port Coquitlam. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Quirin’s memory to the charity of your choice.
